PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Product identification and RFQ basis

The website supports identification and inquiry. The written quotation, approved drawing or approved sample controls the order.

Slide retainers and ball detents, supplied to your envelope and retention force. The small spring-loaded unit that holds a slide in its retracted position while the mold is open, so it does not drift out under its own weight and get sheared on the next close. Send the envelope dimensions, the retention force you need, or the old unit photographed against a caliper, and we quote in writing, normally within one business day.

Retention force is the specification — not the size

Everything about choosing one of these comes down to a force window, and the window has a floor and a ceiling:

  • The floor: the retainer must hold the slide against gravity plus its own gib friction, with margin, in the orientation the slide actually sits in. A slide facing down needs far more than the same slide sitting on top of the mold.
  • The ceiling: the angle pin has to be able to break the detent on the next close without the pin taking the load. If the retention force is too high you bend angle pins — and the pin, not the retainer, is what you will be replacing.

Tell us the slide mass and its orientation and we can work backwards to a sensible force. If you only know the part number of the unit you are replacing, send that instead — but tell us whether it was actually working, because a large share of these are replaced with the same size that was never right in the first place.

Where it mounts, and why that matters

Retainers are usually let into the slide or into the plate face, acting on a detent pocket or a ground flat on the mating part. Two things that decide whether it works: the depth and edge form of the pocket the ball drops into — a sharp-edged pocket gives a crisp hold and a hard release, a radiused one is gentler on the ball and easier on the angle pin — and whether the unit sits square, because a retainer mounted a degree off pushes the ball sideways and wears the bore.

What to send us

  • Version required — ball detent, spring plunger, or single- and dual-clip retainer
  • Overall envelope: length, width, height, or body diameter and length
  • Ball, plunger, spring or clip geometry, and the mating pocket or flat
  • Mounting-hole, thread and centre-distance layout
  • Required retention force, or the slide mass and its orientation
  • Whether release has to be crisp or progressive
  • Material, treatment, quantity and destination

Documentation and confidentiality

Material certificates and dimensional inspection reports are available on request, with scope and cost confirmed in the quotation. Technical files are used to evaluate and fulfill your inquiry or order. They may be shared only with relevant manufacturing, inspection, logistics or service partners as needed. Send only files you are authorized to share. See our Privacy Policy. NDA on request from rfq@privleymold.com.

"S5140" is used here as a configuration reference only. We do not claim drop-in interchangeability with any brand until the controlling dimensions and the retention requirement have been compared — send yours and we will do that comparison before quoting.

IMPORT & DOCUMENTATION BASIS

US and European quotation checkpoints

These checkpoints reduce ambiguity before a formal quotation becomes an order. Exact responsibilities are set by the written quotation, delivery term, PI and final shipping documents.

UNITED STATES

Origin and import documents

Country-of-origin information and marking requirements are reviewed for the final item and packing as applicable. We do not publish a generic tariff rate or promise a fixed import duty on the product page.

EUROPEAN UNION / UK

Importer and customs data

Where the importer or customs process requires an EORI or other identifier, the buyer or importer can provide it later in the order or shipping workflow. The initial web RFQ should not contain unnecessary sensitive identifiers.

HS CLASSIFICATION

Final item basis

HS classification is reviewed against the final shipped product and declared on shipping documents where applicable. The quotation is not a binding customs classification or tax determination.

Document-backed requests only

Material certificates, inspection reports, origin statements and product-specific regulatory information are confirmed only when applicable and supported for the quoted item. No blanket CE, RoHS or REACH certification is implied.

Buyer review point

Before payment, confirm the offered specification, quantity, unit system, destination, delivery basis, requested documents, tax or duty assumptions and beneficiary details on the written quotation and formal PI.

COMMERCIAL ORDER TERMS
