dy-lifter-support-block-stop-block
DY Lifter Support Block / Stop Block

Lifter support blocks and stop blocks, made to your drawing. The parts that carry a lifter's side reaction along its travel, and that define where the travel ends. Where the lifter slide unit guides the foot of the lifter, this is about supporting the length and limiting the stroke. Send a drawing, the lifter angle and stroke, or the worn block photographed with a caliper, and we quote in writing, normally within one business day.

The stop face is a wear face, and it decides your part quality

A stop block does not just prevent over-travel. On most molds it is what sets the lifter's end position — and therefore where the moulded surface ends up. Two consequences:

If the stop face beds in, the lifter position drifts. A stop face that is too soft or has too little bearing area indents a little on every cycle. It is invisible for weeks and then shows up as a dimension that has crept on the part. If you are chasing a dimension that has slowly moved on a lifter-formed feature, measure the stop face before you touch the process.

Impact matters more than static load. The lifter arrives at the stop with momentum. Bearing area sized for the static force is not enough; state the ejector speed or cycle rate and we will size for the arrival, not just the load.

Support along the travel

An inclined lifter is a beam with a side load on it. Left unsupported over a long travel it deflects, and the deflection shows as the undercut not clearing evenly across the feature. The support block's job is to shorten the unsupported length.

The fit at the support surface matters in both directions: too loose and it is not supporting anything, too tight and the lifter binds once the mold is hot and the plates have grown. Tell us the operating temperature and the plate material and we will allow for thermal growth rather than quoting a cold fit.

Hardness pairing

The block and the lifter should not be similarly hardened — two comparable hardened steel surfaces gall rather than wear. Normal practice is to make the block the softer, cheaper, replaceable half, or to fit a replaceable wear insert at the contact face. Decide which part you want to be replacing, and that sets the pair.

What to send us

Block length, width and height

Support, stop, angled or wear-surface geometry, and which faces are functional

Hole, thread, counterbore and centre-distance layout

Lifter angle, required travel, and the contact direction at the stop

Ejector speed or cycle rate, if the stop takes impact

Operating temperature and mating plate material

Mating-part or assembly drawing where available

Material, hardness, surface treatment, tolerance, quantity and destination

Replacing a block?
