dy-a-type-lifter-slide-unit
DY A-Type Lifter Slide Unit

A-type lifter slide units, made to your drawing. The guided base assembly that lets a lifter rod travel up with the ejector plate while sliding sideways to release an internal undercut. Send a drawing, the lifter angle and required stroke, or the existing unit photographed against a caliper, and we quote in writing, normally within one business day.

The geometry that decides everything: angle and stroke

A lifter does two things at once. It rises with the ejector stroke, and because it is inclined, it moves sideways as it rises. The sideways movement is what clears the undercut, and it is fixed by simple trigonometry:

Sideways travel = ejector stroke × tan(lifter angle).

So the angle is not a style choice — it is set by the undercut depth you have to clear and the ejector stroke you have available. Practical range is usually 5° to 15°. Steeper clears more per millimetre of stroke, but the side load on the lifter rod and on this slide unit climbs with it, and steep lifters bend rods.

Tell us the undercut depth and the available ejector stroke and we can check the angle rather than simply machining the one on the drawing — a surprising number of lifter problems are an angle that never had enough stroke behind it.

Why the slide unit exists at all

Without a guided base, the lifter rod's sideways reaction is carried by the ejector plate hole, which wears oval and then lets the lifter cock over. The slide unit gives that reaction a proper bearing surface and keeps the rod's foot travelling in a straight line. Its bearing area and its fit in the ejector plate pocket are therefore what determine service life — not the rod.

Lubrication and hardness pairing

The slide interface runs dry unless you design for it. A V-groove or flat sliding face with no grease retention wipes clean in a few hundred cycles. Grooves, a bronze insert, or graphite plugs all work; nothing does not.

Do not match the hardness of the two sliding faces. Two similarly hardened steel surfaces gall. Either the slide unit is clearly harder than what it runs on, or it is the softer sacrificial half that you replace on schedule.

What to send us

Body length, width and height, and the pocket it sits in

Slide-interface or V-groove geometry, and the bearing length

Lifter rod or insert diameter, and the assembly angle

Required stroke, and the undercut depth it has to clear

Hole, thread and centre-distance layout

Mating-part drawing where available

What the sliding face runs against — material and hardness

Material, heat treatment, hardness, tolerance, quantity and destination

Replacing a unit on a mold with a lifter problem?
